New York, NY (PRWEB) March 4, 2010

Annuity FYI asserts that, for most investors, equity linked CDs are a better investment than fixed-indexed annuities. Of the equity linked CDs currently on the market, Annuity FYI experts have recommended one product in particular — the Wells Fargo WISE US Index Equity Linked CD. For specific information on Wells Fargo’s equity linked CD, see Annuity FYI’s “Why We Like Wells Fargo’s SGI WISE US Index Equity Linked CD.”

An equity linked CD is a certificate of deposit issued by a bank where the rate of return is tied to a particular stock index, like the S&P 500® or DJIA®. Equity linked CDs are insured by the FDIC to the maximum amount permitted by law, so the principal is secure. Annuity FYI has updated the “Compare Annuities” section of its web site with information regarding specific products, rates and criteria for evaluating equity linked CDs. For a complete explanation of equity linked CDs, see Annuity FYI’s article “What is an Equity Linked CD?” on its website, http://www.AnnuityFYI.com.

“Equity linked CDs offer many of the same benefits as other Annuity FYI-featured investment products, including protection of principal, ability to participate in market upside, and low cost,” commented Greg Shaughnessy, Director of Marketing for Annuity FYI. “Even though equity linked CDs are not annuities, we think that they can be an exceptional component to one’s retirement portfolio. Plus, they have the added benefit of being FDIC insured.”

Annuity FYI stressed that in most cases, equity linked CDs are a better investment than fixed-indexed annuities. Annuity FYI has written extensively about, and been a frequent critic of, fixed-indexed annuities. According to Annuity FYI, these products are difficult to understand and have high fees that are disproportionate to their benefits.

Annuity FYI recommended a specific equity linked CD, the Wells Fargo WISE US Index Equity Linked CD. They tout it as an excellent investment opportunity for investors with a 6-year time horizon who want the security of FDIC insurance with the promise of market upside.

Bournemouth, UK (PRWEB) November 30, 2008

Flexible retirement solutions provider LV= has improved its enhanced annuity product by increasing the number of medical conditions accepted for enhanced terms under its conventional and with-profits annuities.

In addition to the medical conditions already accepted, customers who have a combination of milder conditions, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and disclose them at application, may now be eligible for an enhanced annuity rate and an increased income in retirement (http://www.lv.com/savingsandinvestments/Retirement ).

Customers suffering from two or more mild medical or lifestyle conditions may now be able to qualify for enhanced annuity (http://www.lv.com/annuities/pension_annuity ) rates offering up to 7.5% more income than a standard annuity from the market leading provider. The new qualifying conditions include high blood pressure, being overweight, high cholesterol, smoking cigars, and smoking less than 10 cigarettes each day.

Matt Trott, Head of Annuities (http://www.lv.com/annuities ) at LV= commented: “We hope the improvements to our enhanced annuity will encourage more people to apply and potentially receive a higher income in retirement. Many conditions that people may think are trivial and won’t enable them to qualify for an improved annuity, such as high blood pressure, may in fact open the door to enhanced annuity terms.

“It is therefore even more important that customers are open and honest about their health and medical conditions with their financial adviser. Even relatively minor conditions could increase the income they receive in retirement for the rest of their life.”

Examples of potential income increases, with the improved LV= product, compared with a standard annuity from the market leading provider:

A 65-year-old male smoker could receive an extra £147 in income each year, equivalent to an increase of 3.2%*, having disclosed he is receiving treatment for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, as well as being obese.

A 65-year-old male smoker who is overweight who purchases a joint life annuity that will provide a 50% dependant benefit to his 62-year-old wife, will receive an extra £167 in income each year, equivalent to an increase of 4.8%**, having disclosed he is receiving treatment for both high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

(PRWEB) November 17, 2005 –

With the future of Social Security unclear, annuities can provide the income and security needed for retirement planning.

Statistics show nearly half of all retirees are unable to meet their regular expenses. Those with incomes in the bottom 20 percent rely on Social Security for 80 percent or more of their annual income. With the future of Social Security under constant scrutiny, the development of a personal retirement planning strategy is essential.

“In order to accommodate long-term retirement income needs, people today must include a personal savings plan to supplement Social Security and earnings-based retirement plans,” says Ken Nuss, founder of AnnuityAdvantage.com.

According to Nuss, “In today’s financial world, annuities can provide a sensible solution for a protected, competitive return on a principal-protected investment at any stage in the retirement planning cycle.”

Annuities, investment products offered by insurance companies, have the added benefit of tax-deferral, and are typically guaranteed (to certain limits) by State Guaranty Associations.

Harry Donovan, a 30-year annuities investor, has long relied on the security his annuity investments have provided.

“Every day you hear of companies filing for bankruptcy or falsifying reports,” says Donovan. “I find great comfort in knowing my retirement funds are safely invested in annuities.”

For a typical member of the so-called baby boom generation, the average $ 1,300 they have accumulated in their personal savings plan can evaporate before the first month of retirement ends. Most widely used investment options carry a risk factor far too high for soon-to-be retirees, while volatile market conditions have put an end to the soaring returns seen just a few years ago.

The wide varieties of annuity options which can be customized to fit the needs of a particular investor include:

Fixed – allows for compounding interest to accumulate tax-deferred over a period of time with a guaranteed rate of return

Immediate – creates a guaranteed monthly stream of income

Equity-Indexed – provides the increased interest potential of a market investment without the market risk

“As we approach retirement, it is important to decrease the risk associated with our investments,” says Kathleen Cohan, a former day trading professional and contributing financial reporter. “Those considering an annuity investment should seek the advice of an Annuity Specialist, who can help guide people through the web of detailed contracts to find the best annuities for their individual needs.”

Finanza & Futuro Banca, Deutsche Bank’s network of financial advisers in Italy, is piloting Finantix Wealth Apps, an advisory suite that runs natively on iPads.

The focus of the adopted solution is to engage prospects and clients in discussions about their financial needs and goals and to help define optimal financial strategies.

Armando Escalona, CEO of Finanza & Futuro, and Paolo Abiuso, head of business services, are very satisfied about this new initiative which allows their advisers to capture and visualise client goals and needs in a compelling way. Communication between advisers and clients becomes more engaging and efficient.

According to Alessandro Tonchia, founder and director of Finantix, “Making the advisory process relevant, fast and even entertaining is a key objective for all players in the industry. We believe that our Wealth Apps, along with form factor of the iPad, can greatly contribute towards this goal. We envision a future in which tablets will be the primary channel for client-adviser interactions.”

The Finantix Wealth Apps are part of a larger suite of apps that support and enrich client interactions in the retail, mass affluent and high net worth segments. Now tablets with highly interactive tools and content can be used in client meetings, finally substituting paper which is currently the key support medium for financial advisers.

NEW YORK (PRWEB) April 3, 2006

Annuity FYI, a consumer resource for learning about and comparing annuity products, has named Ohio National’s ONcore Value with the 6 percent dollar-for-dollar Guaranteed Minimum Income Benefit (GMIB) living benefit rider as its Featured Variable Annuity.

“This is the least expensive variable annuity we’ve found that offers a living income benefit and contains a guaranteed roll-up death benefit,” said Thomas Hamlin, CEO of Burgess Wever, Annuity FYI’s parent company. “And the living income benefit and death benefit are second to none in the industry.”

The GMIB allows investors to participate in the market while providing the comfort of monthly payments through optional systematic withdrawals. The GMIB provides income protection by guaranteeing a minimum 6 percent growth rate on the investment (for investors under the age of 75), regardless of market performance as an income benefit. It also provides downside protection in a declining market by locking in the highest contract anniversary date value, allowing investors to capture and preserve any actual investment growth when the annuity is converted to monthly income. Ohio National’s Value has a low 0.90 percent Mortality and Risk and Administrative (MEA) charge.

“For investors who do not need current income, the 6 percent guarantee will compound until income payments are taken,” said Hamlin. “For example, a $ 100,000 investment is guaranteed to grow to $ 179,084 in 10 years, assuming no withdrawals, and irrespective of market performance. At that time, the investor could take out $ 895 per month without touching the $ 179,084, which could be annuitized in the future, even if the account value dropped to as low as $ 5,000.”

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 7, 2009

No-load variable annuities are sold directly to investors and do not require commissioned brokers (but can often be purchased through brokers). No-load variable annuities do have M&E fees, although usually they are significantly lower than load annuities – as low as 0.20% with a no-load vs. 1.50% or more for a loaded annuity. Portfolio fund management (sub-account) fees associated with no-load variable annuities are about the same as loaded variable annuities, but no-loads typically will not charge a 12b-1 fee.

No-load annuities do not have surrender charges, so they can be a good option for investors needing spur-of-the-moment access to their money (although even with no-load annuities, investors under the age of 59 ½ are subject to a 10% federal excise tax as well as ordinary income taxes on any gains). The most competitive no-load annuities offer the same guaranteed minimum income and death benefits you’d expect with a loaded annuity.

Annuity FYI highlights as an example Ohio National’s ONcore Wrap No Load Annuity has an optional Guaranteed Income Benefit and Death Benefit. Annuity FYI considers both riders to be among the most competitive in the market. Not all no-load variable annuities offer optional living and death benefit riders, so Annuity FYI cautions that investors ask specifically before making an investment decision, or visit Annuity FYI’s Compare No Load Annuity table.

Annuity FYI does caution investors that when you purchase a no-load annuity, you are not getting service from your financial professional. A commission fee is a way of compensating these professionals for their service. Spending time with you discussing your goals and various investment programs, and regular correspondence, are some of the services generally provided in exchange for a commission fee. If looking for a relatively high degree of support and advice, the commission fee, or ‘load’, may be worth it.

Annuity FYI suggests that for investors who do not need a high level of guidance from a financial agent, and who are comfortable monitoring their own investments in exchange for lower fees, no-load variable annuities may be appropriate. For more information on No-Load Annuities, contact an Annuity FYI Expert at 1-866-223-2121. Or, send your inquiry by e-mail to support@annuityfyi.com.

Sheldon, IL (PRWEB) August 22, 2005

If the idea of a comfortable retirement with an abundance of money sounds appealing, then chances are you may be one of nearly 2 million people that utilize the Internet each and every month to search for financial advice to grow your life savings.

While annuities have played an integral role in retirement planning throughout most of the last century, a new report reveals that the average consumer is ten times more likely to read information designed to discourage annuities rather than endorse them.

A market study completed this week by Annuities Institute included the analysis of more than five hundred popular consumer articles on financial planning and annuities. From the review, an alarming 93% of the documents researched contained inaccurate and damaging assessments of how annuities work within retirement plans.

“Many of the articles attacking annuities are being written by private investment advisors that want to sell mutual funds, provide stock market trading systems, or broker other money market instruments,” reports Robert Davis, executive director of Annuities Institute. “The Internet has become a very effective way to have your opinion heard. As a result, we are seeing the same ill-conceived perceptions being quoted time and time again as justification why annuities are not suitable for retirement planning.”

The Annuities Institute research included compiling a list of the most common misconceptions published on annuities, and then sharing them with professional planning advisors and retirement specialists nationally. Their comments and input were then compared against consumer satisfaction surveys sampled from a base of more than $ 500 billion of annuities sold to consumers between 2001 and 2005.

Among some of the top negative press strategies and fallacies recorded were:

1. Every Annuity is a Variable Annuity

Very often, the risk properties of the variable annuity are intentionally or incorrectly referenced on behalf of all types of annuities, undermining consumer knowledge and confidence in non-security based annuities such as fixed, immediate and indexed investments. Nearly half of all annuities purchased are not based on stock market performance however, and offer guarantees through fixed minimum interest rates and future protection against loss of principal and earnings.

2. Your Insurance Agent Isn’t Qualified to Offer Financial Planning

Some investment managers will diminish the value of annuities on the grounds that the insurance representative does not need a securities license to provide investment advice. However, a securities license is only utilized when selling speculative investments where the potential for loss exists. Many insurance providers focus on fixed and indexed annuities for retirement where loss to principal and earnings is not an option for their clients. They undergo continual training and professional courses year round to improve their knowledge and capabilities for senior planning.

3. Fixed Annuities Will Never Outperform Inflation

The fixed annuity offers security in knowing you are guaranteed a set interest rate over a specific period of time, and is often utilized to give long term investments more growth return and tax advantages over CDs. Some investment advisors are against fixed annuities because of their perception of future inflation. They feel that some risk must be taken to grow savings to maximize personal wealth. For investors who cannot afford to lose any of their life savings however, risk should never be a substitute for long term planning and new income generation as needed.

About Annuities

Annuities provide many real advantages, ranging from competitive interest rates, to guaranteed income for life, to the often cited tax deferral advantages of compounding principal and interest over long periods of time in preparation for retirement distributions. They also offer many unique and beneficial ways to protect estates, avoid probate, and pass money to future heirs.

Many individuals looking for safety within their investments are being exposed to significant risk to their savings and are not even aware of it. To maximize the safety of your retirement plan, ensure you deal with a knowledgeable advisor who can provide independent and objective advice, buy only from reputable companies with a strong performance history in annuities, and never agree to anything that concerns your retirement and financial security that you don’t fully understand.

Surrey, United Kingdom (PRWEB) March 8, 2006

The new AdviserMap website (http://www.advisermap.co.uk) has experienced a busy couple of weeks since launch in February. In this short space of time the website has had 34,885 hits. This meant an average of 1341 hits a day and the busiest day (21st Feb) saw 6329 hits.

Over 60% of visitors to the AdviserMap website decided to visit the adviser’s own website as well.

Spokesperson for AdviserMap™, Sarah Calvert said today:

“AdviserMap is receiving unprecedented visitor numbers because it is so unique and fresh. Most websites take months or even years to get this level of visitor activity and we have managed it in two weeks!

Our campaign of online activity has led to top search engine rankings for the AdviserMap without having to resort to the paid search engine advertising the alternative professional adviser directories place such emphasis on. We have a list of relevant search phrases that we will continue to push to the top of the search engine rankings. “

Some new features

A couple of improvements have been made to the AdviserMap site to enhance the search experience for visitors. As well as being able to use the unique map driven search facility, visitors can now also enter the first part of their postcode to be taken directly to that area of the AdviserMap.

There is also a ‘tip of the day’ box which contains useful hints and tips for making better use of AdviserMap.

Calvert added:

“AdviserMap was already very simple to use and this is what makes it so appealing to visitors. These new features give the website visitor choice to use their preferred method of searching for a professional adviser. It will be interesting to see over time which search method is the most popular – postcode or map driven!”

Note for Editors:

AdviserMap (http://www.advisermap.co.uk) is a unique online directory of professional advisers (IFA’s, Accountants and Solicitors). It uses cutting edge Google Map technology to place advisers on an interactive map of the UK.

AdviserMap was created by Ciris Business Development Limited, a specialist business development company for solicitors, accountants, IFAs and other professional advisers, providing help, advice and services on marketing, networking, Blogging and Podcasting.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 15, 2010

Annuity FYI, a leading retirement planning resource, announced today its endorsement of Secondary Market Annuities, which currently offer guaranteed interest rates as high as 7.75%.

Secondary market annuities require a fixed one-time investment amount, typically between $ 40,000 and $ 500,000. In exchange, the investor receives a guaranteed rate of return over a specified time period, through a series of lump sum and or periodic payments. The payment of secondary market annuities is safe and dependable — personal annuity receivables are direct obligations of insurance companies such as MetLife, John Hancock, Pacific Life, Allstate, Prudential, The Hartford, Aegon, and other A and AA rated carriers.

Annuity FYI offers a comparison table highlighting actual secondary market annuities, informational resources about these products, and free access to Annuity FYI Experts via e-mail and telephone. Investors can see the amount of investment required, as well as the timing of returns and monthly compounded effective yields. A recent example includes a $ 50,000 investment in a Transamerica secondary market annuity guaranteeing total repayment over 24 years of $ 300,000, for an effective annual compounded yield of 7.75%. Annuity FYI also offers an exclusive weekly e-mail alert to inform investors of current secondary market annuity offerings.

“Most investors have never heard of secondary market annuities,” commented Greg Shaughnessy, Director of Marketing for Annuity FYI. “They have no idea that they can participate in a long-term, guaranteed fixed rate of return investment that is currently much higher than fixed annuities, bank CDs, and bonds. Annuity FYI’s comparison table and free e-mail alerts is one of the few ways for investors to find out about these opportunities.”
